Charles Bunnag, who joined Company 3 in late 2018, brings his strong traditional artistic background to all his color grading work, including credits (shared with longtime collaborator, finishing artist Steven J. Scott, and on his own), including: Avengers: Endgame, Roma, Bad Times at the El Royale, Avengers: Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Strange and Oscar-winners, Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtues of Ignorance) and The Revenant. Bunnag came the company after highly-successful runs at Technicolor and EFilm (now also Company 3).
Before working as a colorist, Bunnag was a matte painter and VFX artist, contributing work on both feature film and TV shows, including J.J. Abram’s award-winning Fringe.
Bunnag studied art and illustration at California State University, Northridge, and considers his background in traditional artistic techniques invaluable to his process today. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with the next generation and has taught matte painting at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects and lectured at California State University, Northridge. Bunnag has also spoken on the subject pf color grading and it’s relation to visual story telling at the SXSW Festival.
